Tips to Get the Perfect Photo of Your Item
A picture is worth a thousand words. What’s better than showcasing your jewelry with amazing photos and videos? Here are some photo tips to help you portray the item you are listing in all its glory and find buyers faster.
-
Make sure you are using a contrasting, solid background to allow your item to stand out and draw the buyer’s immediate attention.
-
Get photos from all angles to capture intricate details of the jewelry, including signatures, textures, colors, and even flaws.
-
Make your item stand out and sparkle by taking pictures under proper natural or artificial lighting. A pro tip? Avoid shadows and camera flashes.
-
Be absolutely sure that the pictures you are uploading are clear, uncluttered, precise, high-quality, and non-grainy. Remember that the photos are the best representation of your item and will most likely convince the buyer to make the purchase.

Gather Your Information
You need to provide the following key information to complete the listing process.
Certification Documentations
Certifications details are essential for verifying whether your item is conflict-free and 100% genuine. While every listed item goes through IGI authentication, having a certification expedites the process.
Most buyers prefer purchasing certified jewelry. Having a certification can increase your item’s value. If you have certifications from GIA, IGI, AGS, HRD, or other lab reports and previous appraisals, be sure to include them in your listing.
Receipt of Purchase
A receipt of purchase helps verify that the item you’re selling is conflict-free and ethically acquired. It also confirms the year of purchase. If the receipt shows your item was bought more than 15 years ago, it qualifies as a Vintage item.
Private Appraisals from Insurance Entities
If your jewelry was insured, you might have received appraisals from your insurance company. This adds an extra layer of authenticity to your item. Even though GEMGEM conducts independent authentication, including these details in your listing can help buyers feel more confident in their purchase.
Item Details
While listing your item, provide accurate specifications. If your jewelry includes diamonds, specify the 4Cs – Color, Clarity, Cut, and Carat Weight – with precision. Other details such as item weight, material, material purity, polish, and side stones will help buyers assess the true value of your item.
