A Step-By-Step Authentication Process Conducted Under the International Gemological Institute (IGI)

Buying luxury gemstones and diamond jewelry online requires trust. At GEMGEM, we prioritize buyer confidence by implementing a transparent and reliable authentication process.

Every jewelry piece sold on our platform is sent to a designated IGI laboratory, where it undergoes a multi-step verification process conducted by expert gemologists at the International Gemological Institute (IGI).

IGI Verification is a strictly followed process at GEMGEM’s international marketplace, ensuring that both jewelry and gemstones reaching buyers or returned to sellers are 100% genuine and conflict-free.
All jewelry, whether certified or not, is sent to an IGI laboratory for verification. For certified items, IGI specialists verify both the authenticity of the certificate and the jewelry itself. For items without certification, IGI conducts a comprehensive evaluation and assigns a certification upon successful verification.

If an item fails the IGI Verification process, it is returned to the seller.
 

How does it work?

1. The seller receives an order from a buyer.

2. The item is shipped to a designated IGI laboratory for authentication.

3. IGI specialists conduct a multi-step verification process to ensure authenticity.

Scenario 1: Item Passes Authentication

• The item successfully passes IGI authentication.
• It is shipped to the buyer’s provided address.
• The buyer reviews and approves the delivered item.

Scenario 2: Item Fails Authentication - Fake Item

• The item fails IGI authentication due to inconsistencies or falsification.
• The item is returned to the seller.

Scenario 3: Item Fails Authentication - Grading Issue

• The item fails IGI authentication due to a grading issue (e.g., discrepancy in quality or specifications).
• The seller is advised to revise the price accordingly.
